Sausage Crescent Pie

I made this up last night and put it in the fridge so I could put it on this morning while I was in the shower and it would be ready when I got out. This is another "Gregg's Fav." I really don't know what the name of it is, so I just decided to make one up. The first time we had this was at my brother and sister-in-law's house back in May. Gregg had a bank conference in Birmingham so the twins and I went with him and after his conference was over, we headed to Ardmore, Alabama to visit with my brother and his family. Heather, his wife, made this for us the morning that we left and I swear Gregg nearly ate the entire dish on his own. It's quite easy. Here is what you need:
1 lb of pork sausage
1/2 block of cream cheese (I believe that is 4 oz)
1 can of crescent rolls.

Ok, So what you do is brown your sausage in a pan, drain and then mix it up with the cream cheese. (you want the cream cheese to be soft, makes it much easier to mix).
Set this aside and spray a square baking dish, or cookie sheet with cooking spray. Spread half the crescent rolls in the dish kind of like this
Then you will want to spread a thin layer across the crescent rolls of the sausage/cream cheese spread like this:

Once you spread that evenly, layer the other half of the crescent rolls across the top of it and pinch it around the edges to from a pie type edge.

Pop that in a 375 degree preheated oven for 12 minutes and you are good to go!

  1. we make this exact recipe, but we lay out the dough and spread it on some wax paper into a rectangular shape. then spread the cream cheese/sausage mixture onto it. then i roll it up and refrigerate it over night. in the morning, you just cut slices from the roll and cook them. we call them sausage pinwheels. you can mix it up a little bit if you want to try it! you can't go wrong though because it just tastes so delicious!

  2. When you make them into pinwheels, they are now a great appetizer or party food......not just for breakfast anymore!!!!

  3. I will definitely try the pinwheel way. Thanks!

  4. I had them in pinwheels with some chopped green chiles! Really good!

  5. wow this sounds so good....I like the pin wheel idea too!! will definately try it soon!!

  6. I made this last night for supper. My family loved it! I added green chiles as Stephanie suggested and it was great! Thanks for sharing!

  7. So Glad you enjoyed it! :) I started to make it up last night for breakfast again this morning. :)
